The Fluvanna Youth Soccer Association will be hosting their “Play Like A Girl” winter soccer clinic on January 26 & 27, 2019, from 10am-1pm at Fluvanna County High School with special guest coach, Joanna Lohman, from the Washington Spirit. This clinic will focus on skill building, girl empowerment and building self esteem on and off the field!

Kathryn Goodman – Flu Shots Available

Flu season is right around the corner, so the Thomas Jefferson Health District has set aside special clinic days for people to get vaccinated.

Beginning earlier this month on Thursdays, they have been taking walk-in patients and anyone who wants to get ahead of the virus. The clinic will be dedicating every Thursday for the rest of the year to offering vaccines and encouraging people to get the flu shot.

The clinics will be available in Charlottesville and Albemarle County as well as Louisa, Fluvanna, Nelson and Greene counties. Walk-in clinics dedicated to flu vaccination will last from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on every Thursday.

Liz Crocker / Kim Cronan – W.I.S.E. & PVCC Scholarships Benefit Single Moms

Women In Spiritual Engagement (W.I.S.E.) hosts PVCC fundraiser to benefit single moms and foster parents.                                                                                                 

There will be both Live and Silent Auctions, offering experiences such as golf lessons, romantic dinners, Broadway shows, and incredible vacations in order to raise $25,000 for full scholarships to Piedmont Virginia Community College.

The event will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018, from 2-6 PM at Bridge Between the Worlds retreat center in Keswick.

The SPARC Walk of Hope Is the primary fund raiser of the Suicide Prevention Awareness Resource Council each year. The SPARC 5k walk/run is October 20, 2018 at East End Farm in Louisa.

Cynthia Hash, of the Mitchell Hash Foundation, joins Wendy to discuss suicide prevention and the upcoming event.
