Ty Cooper – One Mic Stand at PVCC

Piedmont Virginia Community College continues its One Mic Stand series of open mic nights for spoken word works on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m., in the Maxwell Theatre (Black Box) in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on PVCC’s Main Campus in Charlottesville. The series is part of the college’s 2017-18 Fine Arts and Performance Season.

Join the ranks of countless others who got their start in a relaxed environment at an open mic night. This series for spoken word artists features both seasoned and up-and-coming performers doling out everything from poetry and comedy to political satire, storytelling and more.

Host, and “United Nations of Comedy Tour” founder Ty Cooper joins Wendy Edwards to preview the event.

Erika Proctor – Green Dogs Unleashed – Hurricane Harvey Dogs

Green Dogs Unleashed is a non-profit organization committed to rescuing animals in need, rehabilitating them and professionally training them to become Therapy dogs and then placing them in homes to give back to the community, They focus on the rescue, rehabilitation and training of special needs animals to work with special needs humans. All of their animals are currently trained and rehabilitated at Unleashed Canine Training Academy, in Troy, Virginia.

Erika Proctor joins Wendy Edwards to talk about the rescue of dogs lost and abandoned as a result of the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
