I’ve carefully given much thought on how to address the string of killings of unarmed citizens by police officers that have taken place across the country as well as the murders of the Charleston 9 by a white supremacist. It’s never easy for some to talk about, let alone hear, discussions on race/racism and police brutality. But given the climate in this country, it must be done and I have a responsibility to use my platform to address them in a manner that is responsible and respectful, with careful consideration of all involved.
