Today, on “Charlottesville Right Now with Les Sinclair”, historian Rick Britton talks about: Today in Virginia History On September 1, 1802–115 years ago today–the Richmond Recorder published the following bombshell regarding then-President Thomas Jefferson: “It is well known that the man, whom it delighteth the people to honor, keeps, and for many years past has kept, as his concubine, one of his own slaves. Her name is Sally. . . . By this . . . Sally, our president has had several children. There is not an individual in the neighborhood of Charlottesville who does not believe the story.”
