PVCC’s first Cybersecurity Day | Richard Seweryniak

Richard Seweryniak, Associate Professor of Cybersecurity at Piedmont Virginia Community College, talks with Les Sinclair about the first ever Cybersecurity Day Oct. 11, 2018. The inaugural Cybersecurity Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the North Hall Meeting Room in PVCC’s Main Building. Expert speakers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, WillowTree, Bluestone Analytics, Counterflow AI, Crutchfield and the Albemarle County Police Department will cover topics such as personal data encryption, computer forensics, hacking, the dark web and the security dangers of social media. Attendees will also learn about career paths, local cyber/forensic cases and a day in the life of a cybersecurity professional. Cybersecurity Day is a free event targeted to those interested in cybersecurity careers. No registration is required, and lunch will be provided.
