Sheep have a tendency to stray and go their own way even to their own detriment. Sheep need a shepherd to guide, guard and protect them from harm. Perhaps that’s why God chose the “sheep” image to refer to us in His Word. Isaiah 53, “we all like sheep have gone astray, each to his own way”. Thankfully we have a Shepherd in Jesus to lead us in the way everlasting.
