Pleasure. Possessions. Power. These are temptations we have…and treasures as well! Now admittedly, we tend in the Christian life to focus on them as temptations. But God does not intend our life to be one where we close our eyes, grip our fists, and constantly have to say “no” to temptations. Why? Because these things (like all good things!) are made for us and for our joy. We just have to put them in their right place and use them for the glory of God. Okay, easier said than done. (True.) But! As Dr. Rob Pochek shows us, these things will be ours in heaven, and they are meant for our good and God’s glory here on earth. After all, Jesus was tempted with them, and obviously as fully God he can’t be tempted with evil (James 1:13). But Jesus was also fully man, and so he was tempted as a man (Hebrews 4:13). Join us in worship as we sing praises to a God who did not despise us in our weakness, but came to earth and experienced it like we do, and showed us the way past them to real joy.
