Lydia Prokosch is Youth United Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville and joins Les SInclair to tells us about 2 upcomming events. On Friday, October 3rd  Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville will be holding its third annual “Lego Blitz Build” at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion on the Downtown Mall from 4:30-6:30pm. The Lego Blitz Build is a family-centered, all-ages event hosted in honor of World Habitat Day, drawing attention to the universal need for accessible, adequate shelter. Recreating the construction site experience in a safe, family-friendly environment, we will invite youth to “be the builders” who imagine and construct new homes for a mixed-income community. With over 250 lbs. of Legos in tow, the event promises to be a fun and exciting learning experience for all!

On Saturday, October 4th from 10am-4pm Monticello High School will be hosting the Charlottesville MakerFaire. Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community. The Habitat Store will have its own booth at this exciting event and we invite everyone to come and join us for the creative good times! Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for kids and the event is rain or shine. For more information.  http://makerfairecville.com/about/
