Leha Anderson of Dominion Power joins Les Sinclar to discuss the proposed rate hike.
Dominion Virginia Power customers could see rate increases in their bills this summer. Virginia utility regulators have scheduled hearings on two proposed hikes. One request before the State Corporation Commission involves a proposed rate adjustment to recover the costs of electric transmission service. A typical residential bill would go up by 1.7% or $1.91 a month. The public can weigh in on that July 1st. The other hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18 and involves a fuel rate increase related to Dominion’s cost of generating electricity or purchasing power from other producers. The revised fuel rate would add $4.46 to the typical residential monthly bill, or a 4.1% increase.
