Independence from Domestic Abuse

In order to survive in domestic violence and/or abusive threats, you usually do everything possible to avoid offending or upsetting your abuser. Fears are so intense they can immobilize you and keep you from acting on your own behalf.

But know this: You deserve to live free of violence and threats. The dangers of trying to get out of the situation without strong support and adequate protections are all very real, though, and worth your consideration.
