A Shenandoah County lawmaker wants the House of Delegates to send a message to Virginia’s new Attorney General.  Delegate Todd Gilbert (R-Woodstock) is furious with Democrat Mark Herring’s announcement that he won’t defend a constitutional amendment that bans same-sex marriages. The House Courts of Justice Committee has approved Gilbert’s bill that lets any member of the General Assembly defend a state law under certain circumstances.  Former Fluvanna Board of Supervisors’ Chairman Shaun Kenney has also criticized Herring’s actions.  Kenney says some Republican lawmakers are exploring the possibility of de-funding Herring’s office if he won’t defend Virginia laws.
