Each year, thousands of children apply to come to the U.S. for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of living with a host family, going to an American high school, and becoming part of their local community. Every student – every family- has a story. Today, I share my experience as a host mom with the help of my “son” Derrick Tan and fellow exchange student Alex Barot.
