As you may know, a potential tuberculosis (TB) exposure was recently reported at Woodbrook Elementary School.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates more than 11 million people living in the U.S. have latent TB infection, which can progress to active at any time. However, people can be tested for latent TB with a simple and accurate blood test to catch the infection before it progresses to active.
Dr. Michael Lauzardo, Chief and Associate Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of Florida explains the differences and talks about proactive measures to stay healthy.
