PVCC president Dr. Frank Friedman joins Les Sinclair to talk about the new job opportunities for Central Virginians through the partnership of PVCC, Martha Jefferson Hospital and UVA Medical Center. The new certificate programs are Pharmacy Technician and another for Central Sterile Processing Tech.
Dr. Friedman also outlines the higher tuition and fees at Piedmont Virginia Community College. The are set to increase by $7.50 per credit hour effective fall 2014.
This raises the rates for in-state students to $141.15 per credit hour and out-of-state students to $335.75.
The increase has three tiers:
1) A $6.00 per-credit-hour increase in tuition at the 23 Virginia community colleges which was approved May 22 by the State Board for Community Colleges.
2) An additional $1.00 increase in PVCC’s tuition to pay for a salary increase for faculty that will enable PVCC to be more competitive in hiring and retention.
3) A $0.50 increase in the student activity fee which will be escrowed to help pay for a future PVCC Student Success Center.
