Come to Historic Columbia and find out all about the fascinating history of this little river town. Visit with Chief Dean Branham of the Monacan Indian Nation and learn about the former capital of the Monacan Nation in Columbia at Rassawek. Listen as local elders recount their memories of growing up in a Columbia that is very different from today. Check out the Churches of Columbia, which will be open to visitors to share their histories (and maybe even snacks!) Visit the historic train station and learn more about the county’s plans to recognize the history of this town.
Come to the Village of Palmyra where we will be giving tours of the Old Stone Jail Museum; visit with Marvin Moss as he lectures on the architecture of the Historic Courthouse. Take a walking tour of the Village of Palmyra and imagine life in the county seat in years gone by. Heritage crafters will demonstrate spinning and weaving; local artists and craftspeople will have their creations for sale, and live music will fill the air!
Visit Holland Page Place to see the award-winning restoration of this 1865 log cabin, and learn about the history of gold mining in the area.
