Bundle up with Books Event

Charlottesville City Schools Teachers Hold “Bundle up with Books” on December 21-December 22

The Books on Bikes team from Charlottesville City Schools will be holding special winter events on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon (see times, below). They’ll be visiting several community centers for storytime, hot cocoa, free books, and gifts to keep their young friends warm all winter.

Books on Bikes is a group of Charlottesville City Schools teachers and librarians who, during the summer months, hop on their cargo bikes to deliver free books and popsicles to neighborhoods around Charlottesville. Their goals are to boost literacy and strengthen relationships.

They have gotten a lot of attention — from New Zealand’s public radio station to their presentation at the national meeting of the American Association of School Librarians. Other communities have followed Charlottesville’s lead and established their own “Books on Bikes” chapters.

Join “Bundle up with Books” by following this schedule for Wednesday and Thursday:

Hearthwood Learning Center
December 21 3:00pm-4:00pm

Greenstone Community Center
December 22 4:00pm-4:45pm

Friendship Court Community Center
December 22 5:00pm-6:00pm
