Piedmont CASA receives significant federal funding through VOCA (Victims of Crime Act). Recently Congress passed (and the President signed) a budget deal that includes an increase in spending over the proposed budget caps for both defense and non-defense spending. ($112 billion increase.) The bill also provides relief from the debt ceiling – thru 2017. And one way it accomplishes this is by cutting the Crime Victims Fund by $1.5 billion. Piedmont CASA President, Alicia Lenahan, tells us more.
