From Virginiasports.com:
Redshirt sophomore guard De’Andre Hunter (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior point guard Ty Jerome (New Rochelle, N.Y.) announced Monday (April 15) that they will forgo their remaining eligibility at Virginia and enter the 2019 NBA Draft.
Hunter and Jerome helped lead the Cavaliers (35-3) to their first NCAA National Championship in 2018-19. Both players plan to sign with agents and intend to stay in the NBA Draft, which will be held June 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
“De’Andre and Ty leave Virginia with tremendous legacies,” head coach Tony Bennett said. “They were outstanding players and role models, and I’m so proud of the men they have become. We won a lot of games and championships with De’Andre and Ty, and they are ready to realize their life-long dreams of playing in the NBA.”
Virginia junior guard Kyle Guy (Indianapolis, Ind.) announced Tuesday (April 16) that he will enter the 2019 NBA Draft and hire an agent.
Under new NCAA rules, Guy can sign with an NCAA-certified agent, receive feedback and still return to UVA. The Virginia coaching staff will be involved throughout the process.
Guy was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Final Four last week after leading the Cavaliers (35-3) to their first NCAA national championship. The NBA Draft will be held June 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
“Kyle is taking advantage of the new NCAA rules to make the best decision for himself and his family,” head coach Tony Bennett said. “He has had a terrific collegiate career and has been a pleasure to coach. We will work closely with Kyle throughout the process and support whatever decision he makes.”
Under newly adopted NCAA rules, college players are allowed to retain the services of an agent during the evaluation process. If they choose to return to school, they must end the relationship with the agent and they will not lose any eligibility.
