Pitt Coach Leaving For TCU

accsports.com-Jamie Dixon has accepted the head coaching position at TCU, according to CBS Sports. The Panthers were knocked out in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday with a loss to Wisconsin.

Dixon joined Pitt’s coaching staff as an assistant in 1999 before being named the program’s head coach in 2003. He has since led the Panthers to 11 NCAA tournament appearances in 13 years.

TCU fired head coach Trent Johnson a week ago.

Dixon played for the Horned Frogs from 1984-87 and was named to the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

Pittsburgh finished the 2015-16 season with a 21-12 record. The team climbed as high as No. 20 in the AP poll during the season before finishing ninth in the ACC standings.
