OL Jared Cohen Announces He Is Transferring To Virginia

thesabre.com

Coach Bronco Mendenhall said during his Signing Day press conference that the offensive line is a big need for Virginia in the next few classes. He received some good news on that front today, when Jared Cohen announced that he is transferring to UVA.

Cohen is transferring from UNC, where he played 13 games at offensive guard as a true freshman in 2014 before leaving the program before the 2015 season.

The 6’4″, 295-pound Cohen entered Chapel Hill as a two-time all-state and all-conference selection out of McDonogh High School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Rivals ranked the versatile lineman — he saw action at both guard and tackle on the high school level — as the no. 6 prospect in Maryland in the 2014 Class, while 247Sports ranked him as the no. 10 prospect in the state in 2014.

Cohen reportedly will be eligible to play this season, providing talent, depth, and Division 1 experience to Virginia’s offensive line. He chose the Hoos over ACC-rival Louisville.
