No. 1 seed Virginia (28-7) will play No. 4 seed Iowa State (23-11) in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Region semifinals on Friday, March 25 at United Center in Chicago, Ill. Tipoff is set for 7:10 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on CBS, pregame coverage on WINA at 6:30 p.m.
The winner of the game will meet either No. 11 seed Gonzaga (28-7) or No. 10 seed Syracuse (21-13) in the Midwest Regional final on Sunday, March 27.
Virginia is making its ninth NCAA Tournament regional semifinal appearance and first since 2014 when the No. 1 seeded Cavaliers were eliminated by No. 4 seed Michigan State (61-59) at Madison Square Garden.
This is Virginia’s third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under two-time ACC Coach of the Year Tony Bennett. The Cavaliers have compiled an all-time record of 27-19 in 20 NCAA tournaments. UVA advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1981 and 1984. It’s the fifth time Virginia has been a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
