(RICHMOND – WINA) The University of Virginia fared very well during an annual ceremony that’s become the Commonwealth’s annual salute to Division One football. Cavalier quarterback Bryce Perkins won the 2018 Dudley Award on Wednesday night. The award honoring the state’s top player is named for the late Bill Dudley of Lynchburg, who was a UVA football star in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Perkins was also honored by the Touchdown Club of Richmond as the Commonwealth’s Offensive Back of the Year.
Perkins succeeds the Wahoos’ inside linebacker Micah Kiser, who captured the Dudley Award in 2017. UVA has back-to-back winners of that award for the first time since 1990 and 1991. Cavalier quarterbacks Shawn Moore and Matt Blundin were back-to-back Dudley Award winners in those years.
